A proposal has been put across by City Hall to increase the parking fees in the Central Business District to Sh400 from the current Sh200. Parking fees for non-commercial buses and lorries will be Sh1,000 while trucks will pay Sh3,000 in the central business district and half the amount in the residential areas. A South African pilot sustained injuries after he was forced to make an emergency landing in Kwale following mechanical problems. According to the Daily Nation, the Cessna plane experienced mechanical issues mid air forcing the pilot to make the emergency landing. The Directorate of Criminal Investigation has arrested a man, Joel Lawrence Nyamao, for allegedly insulting Tharaka Nithi woman representative Beatrice Nkatha. The DCI also confiscated  several items including assorted handsets and ID photocopies were confiscated.  They also seized 38 SIM cards, and 20 card holders. Justice Joel Ngugi has made a land mark ruling allowing men to have custody of children after an estranged marriage. The judge ruled that it was wrong for the lower court to assume that the father was only meant to be the breadwinner and not a primary caregiver for his child. “With tremendous respect, I find this reasoning to be dangerously problematic. It does no favors to women to espouse these kinds of stereotypes. Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai has ordered traffic officers to stop erecting road blocks or conducting traffic checks on highways without their regional Commander’s permission. This move he says will reduce the rampant corruption that is usually experienced on the highways. “Traffic check points and road blocks on highways must be approved mounted only with the express authority of regional and formation commanders, and must be justified and rationalised,” the IG said. Police in Kakamega have a arrested a student from Shamberere Technical institute after he stabbed his friend to death in an alleged love triangle incident. The suspect is said to have accosted his fellow student and accused him of snatching his girlfriend. An altercation erupted before he drew a knife and stabbed the other in the chest killing him instantly. A member of the Ngirita family has applied the court to unfreeze her accounts claiming that she has failed to pay school fees for her son amounting to Sh Sh3.4 million at a prestigious school.
