A proposal has been put across by City Hall to increase the parking fees in the Central Business District to Sh400 from the current Sh200. Parking fees for non-commercial buses and lorries will be Sh1,000 while trucks will pay Sh3,000 in the central business district and half the amount in the residential areas. The judge ruled that it was wrong for the lower court to assume that the father was only meant to be the breadwinner and not a primary caregiver for his child. “With tremendous respect, I find this reasoning to be dangerously problematic. Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai has ordered traffic officers to stop erecting road blocks or conducting traffic checks on highways without their regional Commander’s permission. This move he says will reduce the rampant corruption that is usually experienced on the highways. “Traffic check points and road blocks on highways must be approved mounted only with the express authority of regional and formation commanders, and must be justified and rationalised,” the IG said. Police in Kakamega have a arrested a student from Shamberere Technical institute after he stabbed his friend to death in an alleged love triangle incident.
