Governor Mike Sonko has suspended the entire board of Pumwani Maternity Hospital after he discovered 12 infant corpses hidden in paper bags and boxes within the hospital premises. Three senior staff including the hospital superintendent Catherine Mutinda, Dr James Kamau – the obstetrician gynecologist and the hospital’s administrator Zadock Angahya were suspended after the incident . Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko made an impromptu visit to Pumwani Maternity Hospital after the public allegedly made a report that the hospital switched off the machines causing infants to die. The governor discovered that in the records only one infant had died but upon investigation, they discovered 11 infant bodies some of which were hidden in a paper bag that had been stashed under a table. Chief Justice David Maraga alongside the interior CS Fred Matiang’i commissioned the ground breaking ceremony of the new law courts at Kamiti prison. The decomposing body of businessman James Maina was found in River Thiba at Urua village, Mbeere South Sub County five months after he went missing. The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has penalize five banks  that failed to comply with the requirements of Kenya’s Anti-Money Laundering/Combating Financing Terrorism laws and regulations in NYS transactions that amounted to Sh.3.5 billion. The five banks that include Standard Chartered, Equity Bank, KCB, Co-operative Bank, and Diamond Trust Bank Kenya Ltd will have to pay a total of Sh392 million in penalties to the CBK. Justice Mativo has dismissed an application by motorists seeking to block penalties by transport regulator NTSA for minor transport offenses. The rules will see the introduction of fines ranging from Sh 500 to Sh10,000 for offenses like speaking on the phone when driving, failing to wear seat belts and expired licenses.
