The High Court has frozen approximately Sh115 million in US dollars wired to a Kenyan woman by a Mauritius-based company. Isabel Nyaguthii Wanjohi’s money was frozen by Justice Esther Maina, who ordered Standard Chartered Bank to transfer the funds to the Assets Recovery Agency (ARA) for safekeeping pending the outcome of the lawsuit. According to court filings, the $1 million was given to Ms Wanjohi as an unsecured loan on April 13 by Platcorp Holdings Ltd, a Mauritius-based firm. An aspirant for Member County Assembly (MCA) seat in Nyandarua has been charged with acquiring money under false pretenses after allegedly defrauding an elderly man of Sh840,000 by offering to let his relatives and friends attend an international conference in the United States. A Kenyan who was on the US most-wanted list will be extradited to face drug and wildlife trafficking charges. When he appeared in court on Monday, Badru Aziz Saleh, who was caught last month while attempting to exit the country via Liboi, did not object to the extradition charges. The High Court has halted the auctioning of 111-year-old White Rhino hotel in Nyeri. The iconic hotel was set to be auctioned on Saturday. Five people were nabbed in Lamu for attempting to transport 250 rolls of bhang worth Sh250,000 from Mombasa. The five; three men and two women, were apprehended in the Koreni area along the Lamu-Garsen route, in a grey Toyota Voxy.
