Tanzanian President John Magufuli has said that democracy and freedom have limits. On Friday, 1,470 people tested positive for the virus, from a sample size of 8,072 tested in the last 24 hours, bringing to 68,193 the number of confirmed positive cases in the country.c Kenya has cumulatively tested 774,982 samples since the virus struck in March. 256 bars have been shut down since police started enforcing the Covid-19 protocols as directed by President Uhuru Kenyatta last Wednesday, Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has said. Over the same period, 463 motor vehicles have been detained for going against the guidelines. The government has blocked a meeting set to be held on Friday by the County Assemblies Forum (CAF) at the Bomas of Kenya. Kenya has recorded the highest number of Covid-19 fatalities in a day. Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Wednesday announced 26 deaths, bringing the death toll to 1,180. Another 1,216 people contracted the virus, from a sample size of 6,816. This brings the total number of tests carried out since March to 760,775. Kenya’s caseload is now at 65,804.
