Last week, the ministry of health extended the mandatory quarantine period because individuals in some isolation centres had “not maintained optimal social distance, prescribed hygiene measures and have instead had close contacts and interactions”. The government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has written to the Chinese government over forced evictions of its nationals living in the Asian country. In a statement, the ministry said it was aware that China had enforced “stringent measures to forestall imported or asymptomatic cases of COVID-19”. Speaking on Radio Citizen this morning, the opposition leader urged legislators; senators and MPs to declare their COVID-19 status and seek treatment. A Siaya priest who tested positive for coronavirus three weeks ago has been arrested after being discharged from Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH). According to Nairobi Regional Commander Philip Ndolo, the priest, Richard Oduor has been apprehended for spreading the novel COVID-19 and refusing to self isolate. Kenya has confirmed 5 cases of coronavirus, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said. Addressing the media from Afya House, the CS noted that the number of cases had risen to 184. Three of the confirmed cases are Kenyans while the other two are foreigners, CS Kagwe said. They are aged between 30 and 77 years. In the last 24 hours, the ministry has tested 308 samples. Nairobi county government has plans to cremate bodies should the number of COVID-19 related deaths rise during the 21 day movement ban.
