A Nakuru man on Wednesday blamed his giving false information to the police on bhang. Kelvin Kitili alias Omar Ali Ibrahim is said to have lied to the police on January 1, 2019 that he and other unidentified persons were planning an attack in Nairobi. Kitili told the officers that he was an Al-Shabaab militant but later retracted his statement. Appearing at the Milimani Law Courts earlier today, he was also charged with claiming that he had traveled to Somalia. The Ugandan government has announced plans to put measures for artists to obtain permits before performing outside the country. Through the Ministry of Culture, the government has announced that measures will be put in place to curb artists who perform in provocative outfits as well as artists who use any form of illegal substances. Any artist who fails to register with the ministry, for 3 months after the implementation of the amendments, will not be considered as a legal artist in Uganda and will not be alllowed to organize any event. Kenyan musicians have rejected Kenya Copyright Board’s (KECOBO) move to issue licenses to three content management organizations. The three are Kenya Association of Music Producers (KAMP), Performers Rights Society of Kenya (PRISK) and Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK). President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i to chair a new committee, the National Development Implementation Technical Committee. This committee will comprise of all Cabinet Secretaries, the Attorney General and the Head of Public Service secretariat. Matiang’i will be charged to supervise all government projects, including Big Four agenda, and will be deputized by Treasury CS Henry Rotich. Filming without licences from the Kenya Films and Classification Board (KFCB) will lead to arrest, warned the board’s chief executive Ezekiel Mutua. Mutua also noted that their actions are a security threat as these films can be used by criminals to gather information and navigate targeted spots. A house maid was on Monday sentenced to 12 years behind bars for sexually assaulting a minor, in Voi. Ruth Manga was accused of defiling a neighbour’s five year old daughter between December 2018 and January this year in Mwakingali area.
