Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o was rushed to the Aga Khan hospital in Kisumu where he has been admitted after falling ill while attending the installation of Archbishop Philip Anyolo. The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission is investigating the embezzlement of funds from the Kenya Union of Post Primary Teachers (KUPPET), Laikipia branch. Together with the Teachers Service Commission, the branch started a burial benevolent scheme in November 2014, which was meant to help teachers meet burial expenses for themselves and family members. Ministry of Education has extended the reporting date for Form One students to Friday next week, January 18 to allow 100 per cent transition. In a circular to all education officials, Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang said the decision was influenced by school heads and parents who were concerned about the low turn out in schools. “To ensure 100 per cent transition is attained, and the need to give every child an opportunity, the Ministry of Education has extended the reporting date. Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is yet to announce the name of the new Nairobi Deputy Governor. Three people including former Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe’s relative are in court for allegedly stealing a suitcase full of money between December and January. In the suitcase was at least Sh15 million that the suspects used to buy animals, cars and homes. The relative of the 94 year old ex head of state, Constantia Mugabe is said to have had access to his Zvimba home.
