Nation Media Group (NMG) on Thursday appointed Mutuma Mathiu as the Group’s Editorial Director. The opinion columnist effective January 1, 2019 took up his new position from his current role of Executive Editor. Mr Mutuma has been with the Group since July 1997 when he first joined the company as a sub-editor for the Sunday Nation. Detectives have closed the case against Tuko news editor, Douglas Baya, for being an accomplice in the making and spreading of Wajir Woman Representative, Fatma Gedi’s explicit fake sex tape. Speaking at the Kiambu Law Court on Wednesday, prosecution counsel Donex Ongili told the court that the suspect was no longer a person of interest and they did not wish to open any charges against him. Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet on Thursday named new regional police commanders. They are Marcus Ochola – Coast, Eunice Kihiko – Eastern, Judy Lanet – Central, Philip Ndolo – Nairobi, Edward Mwamburui – Rift Valley, Paul Soi – North Eastern, Vincent Makhoha – Nyanza and Rashid Yakub – Western.
