Court has barred the Nairobi County government from demolishing the Marble Arch Hotel located along Lagos Road, Nairobi. Governor Mike Sonko had threatened to bring down the hotel, owned by businessman Mike Maina who is believed to have been responsible for the Nyama Villa Estate demolitions. On Monday however, Justice Samson Okong’o of the Environment and Land Court issued temporary orders blocking the county from bringing down the hotel. Tharaka Nithi police county commander and OCPD Kabete Joseph Ongaya have been arrested. The two are said to have been among those who used their police vehicles to escort Prophet David Owuor as he made a grand entrance in Nakuru for a three day revival. Kangundo MP Fabian Kyule was on Saturday arrested for drunk driving. The legislator is said to have crashed into a wall of a night club as he tried to get away from the police. Tanzanian police are holding Chadema secretary general Dr Vincent Mashinji and four other opposition leaders for holding illegal rallies in Hai, Kilimanjaro. The others have been identified as Basil Lema, Helga Mchomvu, Freeman Mbowe and Irine Lema.
