A wealthy traffic officer could lose his wealth after a court on Wednesday gave the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) the go-ahead to recover the assets. Justice Njoki Mwangi ordered Chief Inspector Gabriel Mbiti Mulei to hand over Sh10.5 in his four bank accounts, seven plots of land valued at Sh19.4 million, five cars, and a motorcycle. A suspected gold scammer of Zambian origin has been deported. In a statement, DCI director George Kinoti said Bupe Chipando aka Elena was deported on Sunday morning. His deportation is following his arrest by sleuths after he allegedly defrauded a Dutch national identified as Bernhard Ten Brinke of Sh170 million in a fake gold deal. Following President Uhuru Kenyatta’s signing of the Traffic (Amendment) Bill 2021 into law, breathalysers, often known as Alcoblows, will be making a comeback on the roads starting tonight (Sunday).
