Kibwezi West MP Patrick Musimba and his wife Angela Mwende have been arrested for stealing Sh1.1 billion from Chase Bank between January 2015 and March 2016. The two denied the charges before Milimani Senior Resident Magistrate Hellen Onkwani and were remanded at the Kileleshwa Police Station until September 20 pending a bail hearing. The two did not appear in court on Thursday to take a plea alongside the former lender’s chairman Mohamed Khan. A nine year old daughter of senior magistrate Caroline Kemei’s body was found in Gitoro Forest in Meru after missing for about a week. The girl, Maribel Kapolon, went missing on 6 September, after reportedly being kidnapped while walking home from the school bus, by unknown assailants. Members of parliament from Central Kenya have asked President Uhuru to sack treasury CS Henry Rotich blaming him for the current economic crisis that the country is currently facing. The two Patrick Munene of Chuka Igamba Ng’ombe and Eric Muchangi of Runyenjes said that the treasury CS has presided over poor monetary policies and that have led the country’s debts which are currently at unprecedented levels. Former MP Kalembe Ndile has accused Kibwezi West lawmaker Patrick Musimba of using part of the money stolen from Chase Bank to rig him out of the 2013 parliamentary election. According to the former MP, the money changed hands at the Judiciary which saw him sent back to the ballot. The property, owned by Rameshchandra Govino Gorasia is said to be sitting on public property set aside for road construction. Initially the mall was set to be demolished on August 31. High Court Judge Samuel Ndung’u Mukunya, died on Thursday after the vehicle he was driving lost control and hit a canter. Judge Samuel Mukunya has been a High Court Judge for many years and was based at the Bungoma Environment and Lands Court until recently when he moved to Kerugoya High Court. Kisumu Governor Professor Anyang Nyong’o is in hospital The county boss slipped, fracturing his left arm on Tuesday while in Nyeri for the second Universal Health Coverage Conference.
