Ethiopia has released a Nation journalist who went missing in October 2021. The Nation correspondent Tesfa-Alem Tekle was freed on Saturday, after 77 days of detention in Addis Ababa. On Friday, a Cameroonian national was charged with possessing counterfeit dollar banknotes worth Sh283.5 million. According to the courts, Timson Babila aka Jeremy was caught in possession of 100-dollar bills worth USD 2.5 million, which were meant to look like dollar bills. A medical practitioner and two businessmen have been charged with supplying 20,000 fake face masks to Aga Khan Hospital for Sh11 million. They are accused of selling “3M” face masks without the permission of 3M Company, which owns the “3M Trade Mark No.42326” registration. A 53-year-old nurse at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has been charged with stealing drugs from the hospital for three months while the patient was in a coma. The body of a suspected Mombasa drug lord who vanished on December 5, 2021 has been discovered. Masuo Bakari Tajiri’s body was discovered in a thicket in Thika, Kiambu county, horribly decomposed. After dozens of disassembled motor vehicle parts were discovered at his yard along Mombasa Road, police officials have arrested a Nairobi-based scrap metal trader. “Dozens of motor vehicle parts that had been deconstructed into pieces from vehicles whose owners could not be immediately determined were recovered,” said a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Thursday morning. A Nairobi court has handed a former manager of Fina Bank, now Guaranty Trust Bank Kenya (GT), and three traders an 18-month jail sentence. The four; Graham Sagwe, the former Fina Bank manager, Robert Moseti, Obadiah Nyambane, and Don Bosco Gichana, were charged with stealing Sh96 million from the lender 10 years ago.
