Safaricom on Monday launched a music streaming android App, ‘SONGA by Safaricom’ that will offer a platform for local artistes to sell their music. “We are excited to launch yet another service that will provide an additional revenue stream to Kenyan artistes and increase their earnings,” said Sylvia Mulinge, Safaricom Director of consumer business. The High Court on Monday ordered for a vote recount in Embakasi East constituency for the parliamentary seat. This is following a petition filed by Francis Mureithi, challenging Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino’s August 8 win. DStv has lost close to 350,000 premium subscribers in the last two years due to faster and more reliable internet connections, as is the case in South Africa. According to a recent study by Nasper, DStv had its clientele grow but only through their cheaper subscriptions. Subscribers grew by 11 per cent in the six months leading to September 2017. But the company lost 11,500 premium subscribers in the same period; having lost 235,000 customers from the previous year. Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University students on Saturday morning went on rampage after one of their own was killed in a bar, Dala-wa Club.
