Embakasi East MP, Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino has been arrested outside Parliament buildings after he and his bodyguards were caught on tape roughing up a Fortis Towers parking attendant. He was apprehended by flying squad officers. Babu allegedly refused to pay the parking ticket and instead resorted to assaulting the attendant. National Bank of Kenya on Friday confirmed that there was in fact an attempt to hack their systems on January 17, 2018. ”We confirm that there was an attempted fraud in normal course of business on 17th January but the Bank’s monitoring and security resources frustrated the attempt,” the statement read in part. The lender says that only Sh29 million was lost while sources intimated that more than Sh160 million was lost. Former nominated Senator, Joy Gwendo has been apprehended by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers on abuse of office charges. A captain and his co. pilot are being held hostage in South Sudan after their aircraft crashed killing one person on the ground, 5 cows and destroyed property including part of the airport’s perimeter fence. Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) morgue attendants have been accused of sexually assaulting and scaring new mothers especially in the wee hours of the morning. Two security guards are in custody after assaulting a CFC Stanbic Bank, Nyali Branch employee for allegedly relieving himself outside a night club. Four guards are said to have beaten up David Kamau on January 7 at 3am. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to the injuries. The High Court on Thursday temporarily lifted National Transport and Safety Authority’s (NTSA) ban on night travel. Justice Chacha Mwita suspended the ban pending the hearing and determination of activist Okiya Omtatah’s case. ”Pending the hearing and determination of this case, the court is pleased to suspend NTSA and the police service’s undated as well as unsigned joint press statement which suspended night travel for all long distance Public Service Vehicles from December 31, 2017,” the judge ruled.
