The manufacturing of plastic bags is still on going, mainly in Nairobi’s Industrial area, four months after the ban was effected, National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has said. The manufacturers according to Business Daily are also in Mlolongo (Machakos) and Thika hence rendering the ban ineffective. ”We are following intelligence of illegal manufacturing. Tensions are high in Mt Elgon in Bungoma County after seven people were allegedly killed on Monday night by the Sabaot Land Defense Force (SLDF). Two girls were hacked to death and two elderly men shot dead in the Chepyuk Settlement Scheme. A young boy is said to have succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday morning. Economist and NASA strategist, David Ndii’s wife, Mwende Gatabaki says her husband was arrested on Sunday outside Leopard Beach hotel, Diani by seven police officers supposedly from the flying squad. Minority leader in the National Assembly, John Mbadi declined to submit a list of members to sit in the Committee of Appointments as they (NASA) do not recognize Uhuru Kenyatta as President. A Jubilee politician has been handed a one month jail term after failing to pay a Sh1.5 million debt. Karisa Nzai, former Jomvu Kuu MCA, was ordered to settle Javaco Agencies Limited’s debt but defied the court order, Senior principal magistrate Francis Kyambia said. The late Dr Wahome Gakuru’s family is set to receive a Sh36 million compensation package that the county assembly has set aside. The Budget and Appropriations Committee on Thursday tabled a report setting aside another Sh10 million meant to offset expenses incurred during the deceased’s burial.
