The Nairobi county government wants its residents to make use of commuter trains in a bid to decongest the city and ease traffic. Detectives on Wednesday recovered equipment used by robbers to commit the grandest heist Kenya has ever seen at Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Thika branch. The robbers made away with Sh50 million on Sunday, November 19 but the heist was discovered on Monday. They are said to have rented a stall adjacent to the bank and dug a 120 meters tunnel positioning them into the lender’s strongroom. They also reportedly gave fake IDs to the landlord from whom thy rented the stall. Police believe that the robbers used oxy-acetylene flame to drill holes into the safes. Game Africa, a South African retail chain will be opening its second outlet in Kenya at the multi billion Karen Waterfront in 2018. The retailer will be replacing a struggling Nakumatt as the mall’s anchor tenant. Game’s first outlet in Kenya was at the Garden City Mall where it is the mall’s second major anchor tenant. Wiper Party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka has dismissed rumors that his wife, Pauline Kalonzo passed away on Tuesday. Rumors circulating on social media indicated that Mrs Kalonzo had lost her battle to cancer while receiving treatment at cancer clinic in Germany. A woman was spotted with NASA leader, Raila Odinga during his two days stay in Zanzibar. Sasha Seraphine Mbote, a businesswoman was photographed with the opposition leader at the Park Hyatt hotel where they celebrated Robert Mugabe’s resignation as Zimbabwe’s President. ”I celebrated Zimbabwe with Baba,” Ms Mbote wrote on her Facebook page. The High Court on Tuesday dismissed NASA leader, Raila Odinga’s application to have Kirinyaga Governor, Anne Waiguru’s lifestyle audited. Judge Joseph Sergon threw out Odinga’s suit as he was ‘satisfied that Ms Waiguru responded to the interrogatories in accordance with the law’ even though she declined to answer some of the questions. Machakos Governor, Dr Alfred Mutua has been dealt a huge blow after his lawyers abandoned a petition filed by Wavinya Ndeti challenging his August 8 win. His lawyers, Wilfred Nyamu, Bernard Mung’ata and others withdrew from the case citing frustrations from the judge. On Tuesday, the legal team objected to Justice Aggrey Muchelule’s call that the hearing continues even with a pending notice of appeal at the Court of Appeal. Shisha smoking among young women is on the rise especially in Nairobi, a report by Tobacco Control Board has revealed. The report was released in Nakuru, which leads in the implementation of tobacco control. Isabella Karanja, a member of the board said that the rise in the smoking culture poses a great threat to the next generation. KCPE Candidates who for compassionate reasons missed out on their exams will now sit for supplementary exams as ordered by President Uhuru Kenyatta. Speaking at Harambee House, State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu said that the President had asked CS Education Fred Matiang’i to set special exams. “President Kenyatta has directed CS Matiang’i to set special supplementary exams to students who may be ill, those who have lost their parents or have just given birth,” he said.
