A 39-year-old teacher was hospitalized in Zimbabwe after a gang of three women kidnapped, drugged and sexually assaulted him before leaving him for dead on the side of the road, local reports say. The man, from Makoni, in Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe, was left with severely bruised genitals and doctors at Waza Hospital found other signs of sexual abuse. A Nairobi court has instructed police officers investigating Nation journalist Walter Menya’s case to give him back his phone and laptop. The journalist told court on Tuesday that the items, which he uses for work and communication, have not been returned to him. According to the Star, the Nation journalist asked the court to order for their release once the officers are through with their analysis of the gadgets. A man has been charged with murdering an opponent during the Starehe parliamentary seat Jubilee nominations that took place in the month of May. The assailant who has been identified as Daniel Kuria Ngarui, attacked and killed George Ndege as he pasted Maina Kamanda’s posters along Juja road. Journalists covering the late Cabinet Secretary Joseph ole Nkaissery’s burial are required to be accredited by the National Government Communication Centre (NGCC). According to a statement by NGCC, media intending to cover any part of the funeral service will require accreditation to have access. “Press attending the event should register for accreditation at accreditation@nkaissery.or.ke by 2pm, Wednesday 12th of July, 2017,” read the statement in part. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) today met with the Presidential candidates over the ballot paper printing tender that was halted by the high court on Friday. IEBC Chairperson, Wafula Chebuakati called for the consultative meeting with all the eight candidates.
