Nyeri County deputy governor Caroline Karugu stopped receiving her salary four months ago, court documents show. In her suit filed in September, Ms Karugu claimed the county government stopped remitting her pay since November 2019. But in response to the suit, Nyeri County Secretary Benjamin Gachichio and Governor Mutahi Kahiga who are listed as the first and second respondents, have refuted the claims. Bank receipts presented in court showed that Karugu only stopped receiving her Sh470,000 pay in June this year. DCI Anti-Narcotics Unit officers based at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) have seized illegal narcotics concealed in two shipments. The drugs, DCI said, were discovered on Wednesday following a tip off. A brawl at the Kieni Barrier Market in Nyeri turned tragic after a third man was fatally stabbed. Three police officers were on Wednesday evening arrested over the escape from custody of self-confessed child serial killer Masten Wanjala. The apprehended officers were; Jogoo Road police station deputy OCS Philip Mbithi and two others; Boniface Mutuma and Precious Mwende, who were on duty. Kenya has recorded 170 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s case load to 251,483, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said. The new infections are from a sample size of 4,648 recording a positivity rate of 3.7 per cent. The cumulative tests stand at 2,617,700. The death toll has risen to 5,198 after another three patients succumbed to the disease, all being late reports. A family is seeking justice after a teenage girl was found dead. The body of Cynthia Makokha, a form four student at Kibera Secondary School in Nairobi, was found floating in River Lusumu on Sunday. Somalia has asked Kenya to respect the “rule of law” following a ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Tuesday. Police are holding a nanny suspected of killing her employer’s 7-year-old son on the night of September 24 in Baringo. A police officer attached to the Parklands Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) was found dead at his Kasarani home. Senior sergeant Elias Kirimo was found dead on Friday evening by his sons who unsuccessfully attempted to resuscitate him.
