Wiper Democratic Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has castigated ODM party leader Raila Odinga over his sentiments on supporting his presidential bid in 2022. The Office of the Controller of Budget (OCOB) has written to the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) seeking guidance on the recently announced car grants before they are implemented. Murdered Caroline Wanjiku Maina could have been indebted to a friend or friends or swindled friends in a deal gone sour, preliminary investigations have revealed. According to sleuths investigating the murder of the 38-year-old business lady, she received a text message from one of her friends warning her of dire consequences in the event that she failed to repay some money that she owed the sender of the message. The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has suspended Ugandan-based Mango Tree Marine Limited from harvesting sand in Lake Victoria. This follows complaints by Homa Bay county residents over the massive sand harvest by the company, which is using a  70 metres long and 4,000-tonne dredging vessel. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is investigating a case where a woman lost Sh300,000 to a conman posing as a Ministry of Education employee. The man allegedly promised to get Frida Karugu a slot for her daughter at Alliance Girls High School in Nairobi but ended up defrauding her. The Ministry of Health has announced plans to roll out a new digital immunization records platform to be used for Covid-19 vaccination. The system will allow pre-registration of users who will then receive details and reminders for when to get their Covid-19 vaccine. Diamond Trust Bank has announced plans to shut down six branches across the country in a bid to cut down its operational costs. A Nairobi man was today arraigned in court after he reportedly assaulted and stole from a lady he met on Facebok. Godfrey Maranga Nyakundi is said to have lured the lady from Meru in the pretext of offering her a job. Maranga has been charged with three cases of indecent assault, robbery with violence and rape. The government has announced new measures that will require every household to make a Ksh500 contribution to the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) for universal health coverage. According to Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani the amount will cover outpatient and inpatient services, including maternity, dialysis, cancer treatment and surgery. “Government focus is on the establishment of a mandatory UHC scheme to be managed by NHIF and regulated by the Ministry of Health and act as the national scheme for all persons resident in Kenya, notwithstanding one’s social status,” he said in a Budget Policy Statement for the fiscal year 2012/2022.…
