Selling bottled water, juices, energy drinks, soda and other non-alcoholic beverages manufactured or imported into Kenya on or after November 13, 2019 could land you in jail or pay fines. Urithi Housing Cooperative Society is now embroiled in a tussle with its investors, after Family Bank moved to auction land already sold to clients. High Court Judge Justice Kossy Bor directed the Transport Ministry to construct free toilets and sanitary facilities along highways for commuters. The ruling was issued after a petitioner, Adrian Kamotho, moved to court seeking to have the government compelled to construct toilets along all highways in the country within 60 days. SBM Bank Kenya now wants East African Cables liquidated for defaulting a Ksh285 million loan. The TransCentury owned company is said to be unable to meet its financial obligations, forcing the lender to move to court to seek liquidation under the Insolvency Act 2015. Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili aka Babu Owino has been released on a Ksh10 million bail to be deposited in four instalments over the next three months. However,  the court ruled that Babu will be set free after depositing the first installment of Ksh2.5 million. The sale of  unit sales of all the high-end brands including Porsche, Land Rover and Mercedes fell to 142 in the review period compared to 273 the previous year. This is a 47.9 percent drop, mostly attributed to franchise and supply chain disruptions in the industry according to the Kenya Motor Industry Association (KMI). Unit sales for new vehicle market dropped to 13,199 units in 2019, an eight percent drop as compared to 2018. A new study by the ministry of health has revealed that half of hospitals in Kenya failed expired drug test, opening the lid to a rotten health sector. According to the Kenya Harmonised Health Facility Assessment report for 2018/19, the affected hospitals do not regularly remove expired or unusable medicine from the shelves. The research also found out that drug outlets in Nairobi, Nyeri, Migori and Garissa were the worst in keeping records of drugs received, dispensed and expired. The International Court of Justice (ICC) has refuted claims by Deputy President William Ruto that his case concerning 2007/8 post election violence (PEV) is being re-opened. The case, where he was accused of crimes against humanity, was closed three years ago, but has been left open in case of developments or more evidence. “The Office of the Prosecutor cannot comment on speculation,” ICC told the Nation. A Jericho pistol stolen two years ago from a senior officer based at police headquarters in Nairobi has been linked to 15 robberies. The gun, serial number KE KP 44333721, was reported to have been stolen from the officer on March 24, 2018. The gun was recovered last year on November 28 in Kisumu following the arrest of a notorious gangster, Fredrick Odhiambo Nundu, alias Gilbert Wafula Makokha. Kenyans who invested at Stanlib’s  Real Estate Investment Trust (Reit) in 2015 are now staring at a loss in billions, after the institution lost value and is now being sold out. Nairobi and parts of the country will receive heavy rains over the weekend and part of next week, the meteorological department has said.
