Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has fired a sub-county admin for posting on Facebook comments that were meant to castigate Members of County Assembly (MCAs) who were on a ‘wasteful’ trip to Kisumu. In his post, Philip Kimutai Biwott accused the MCAs of enriching themselves with public funds, by receiving an allowance of Ksh14,250 per day. “Allowances. Kisumu is 14,250 per day. The National Assembly’s Justice and Legal Affairs approved a bill that will compel creditors to seize assets of defaulting borrowers before going for guarantors’ properties. Second hand cloth imports popularly known as mitumba amounted to Ksh16.9 billion in 2018, the latest report from the Economic Survey has indicated. The amount was used to import 177,160 tonnes of apparel as compared to 135,868 tonnes imported in 2017 using Ksh13 billion. In 2016, mitumba imports amounted to 131,940 tonnes worth Ksh12.9 billion. Deputy President William Ruto has come to Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu’s defence, telling critics off governors neck over the outrageous budget allocations in the county. Nine people among them seven foreigners from DR Congo, Rwanda and Uganda were arrested yesterday in Kilimani, Nairobi with millions of counterfeit US Dollars. One Kenya Police Reserve (KPR) officer has been reported injured and his gun stolen by suspected As-shabaab militants who attacked Hareri hosle village near Mandera town early today. A police officer in a police camp in Maralal on Saturday night shot dead his boss, following disagreements. The reason behind their disagreement is yet to be established, according to Samburu County police commander Karanja Muiruri, who confirmed the incident. However, sources say that the police officer was furious after he was transferred from a construction site where he was working. On Saturday at around 5pm, Soon Ja Nam, the Puyallup store owner in the US, received two visitors in her store, who would eventually take out her money and life. Officer Commanding Station (OCS) in Tharaka-nithi Joseph Kinyua is among four people killed by angry residents, after going to investigate the murder of a chief, Mr Mayau Mukengu. The Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) skipped today’s Labour Day celebrations in Nairobi, following disagreements with Central Trade Organisation Union (COTU) over increment of salaries to workers by 15 percent.
