The anticipated cracks on the ruling Jubilee party could come early, as leaders from the party express different views on the 2022 succession politics, which seemed automatic from the start. In the new development, Jubilee secretary general Raphael Tuju said that it will not be an automatic affair for Deputy President William Ruto, who has declared his interest in succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta upon the expiry of his two terms in 2022. In 2013 during presidential campaigns, Kenyatta said that anyone who would like to become the President of Kenya would have “to wait for me(Kenyatta) to complete his ten…

It has emerged that the Friday arrests of graft suspects being conducted by sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission could be another cash-cow for the arresting officers. According to sources, the officers sent to arrest the suspects are making a fortune out of it, by under-declaring or not declaring at all millions of money hidden in the suspects’ houses. The suspects would rather let the cash go rather than mention it and add charges against themselves, or strengthening the existing ones. This has triggered controversy at the investigating bodies, with officers silently fighting…
Learners will be treated to tutorless classes come January 3 when they open schools as teachers will be on strike. Efforts by conciliators from the ministry of labour to avert the strike bore no fruits as Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) officials accused them of lack of good will. KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion stated that as long as the Commission stuck to its plan not to promote teachers and continues with transfers, there will be no conciliation. On December 19, KNUT issued a strike notice following a move by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to transfer of 3000 school…
