Police at the Kenya-Somalia border were not bribed by Alshabaab to let them into the country, Inspector-General of Police Joseph Boinnet has said. The nurses through their union have given both the county governments and the central government 21 days to implement their return-to-work formula, or they strike. Issuing the strike notice, union secretary general Seth Panyako said the return to work formula was part of a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) entered between them and the government on November 2, 2017. Banks which handled National Youth Service (NYS) loot will have to part with Ksh392.5 million in fines, the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has said. Among the banks affected by the move include Standard Chartered Bank, Equity Bank, KCB Bank, Co-operative Bank and Diamond Trust Bank Kenya. The Kenyan external debt is growing bigger, not because she is borrowing but because her shilling is getting weaker against the US Dollar. On Thursday alone, Kenya’s external debt grew by Ksh2.5 billion after the shilling dipped by 0.1 percent to cross the Ksh103 mark. Taxi-hailing app Uber Technologies is contemplating venturing into the public transport sector in Kenya, if Egypt and Mexico trials prove successful.
