The Water Resources Management Authority (WARMA) has suspended demolition of Seefar Apartments in Nyayo Highrise by 90 days. Former National Bank managing director Munir Sheikh Ahmed is seeking a Ksh453 million compensation for what he calls unlawful termination and malicious prosecution. The amount entails  the salary for remainder of the contract for the period of 76 months, pension, utilities, domestic servant allowance, entertainment allowance and medical allowance among other allowances. KRA has launched the Integrated Scanner Command and Control Centre which is a web based integrated solution that assimilates all KRA scanners with an aim of monitoring their operations. The new centre integrates all its 12 scanners stationed at the port of Mombasa, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Container Freight Stations and at the Nairobi Inland Container Depot to curb infiltration of contraband. “We have 12 scanners, being controlled and monitored from Nairobi and Mombasa Control Centres. Water Hyacinth is threatening the existence of the largest freshwater body in Africa and the second largest in the world, Lake Victoria, even as a Ksh80 million harvesting machine lies idle. So far, the water weed has covered at least 4,000 hectares of the lake’s surface, according to marine experts. The battle for late Nakuru MP Dickson Kihika’s estate has taken a new twist, after three of his children took to court seeking to take charge of his Ksh600 million estate. The three, Florence Nduta, Anthony Kihika and Judy Muthoni, in court papers, accuse their mothers of being old, senile and infirm. 10 people are under police custody in connection to missing examination papers for Olenamuka Primary School in Northern Narok. The papers for 17 candidates disappeared mysteriously in the morning while on transit to the examination centre. Kenya Power is set to shut down prepaid service for 14 hours from Wednesday midnight to Thursday at 2pm to implement new power tariff. In the new tariff, the cost of power for domestic and Small Commercial Consumer has been reduced by Ksh2 and Ksh5 Kilowatts per hour respectively. The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) has announced that it used over Ksh1.3 billion on breast cancer treatment this financial year. The amount was paid to beneficiaries through the Cover Membership package, which covers breast cancer patients through treatment stage, surveillance stage and pet scans. “There are 40,000 new cases annually as per the statistics given by the National Cancer institute of Kenya and 80 per cent of those diagnosed with cancer are covered by the Fund,” said Judy Otele, Funds Assistant manager. The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) missed its target in revenue collection by Ksh92.7 billion, collecting a total of Ksh329 billion in the first quarter of 2018/19 financial year. The authority was targeting to collect  over Ksh420 billion in the quarter. In the same period last year, the tax man collected Ksh317.4 billion. Safaricom paid Ksh293 million in fines last year for failing to pass quality of service tests by the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA). This is according to the latest sustainability report from the telecommunication company. As compared to 2016, there was a 46.5 per cent increase in fines in 2017. The company paid Ksh157 million to fines in 2016. Safaricom also dismissed 43 employees for fraud in 2017.
