Outspoken Pastor Godfrey Migwi has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to declare depression a national disaster, due to the increased number of youths committing suicide. He attributes this to the high cost of living in the country, which chokes most young people who find it hard to manouvre through the situation that is ever getting worse. According to Migwi, over 40 per cent of youths are facing depression and contemplating committing suicide. Two Chad nationals and one Kenyan have been arrested in Nairobi, Westlands along Brookside Drive with Ksh1 billion currency in dollars and Euros believed to be fake money. The Commissioner General of Prisons Isaya Osugo has denied claims that Homa Bay Governor Okoth Obado is receiving preferential treatment in remand as alleged in sections of the media. Giant technology company Apple has announced the acquisition of music discovery app, Shazam,at a reported amount of US$400 million (KSH40 billion). Toyota Uganda is counting losses in millions after their showroom in Kampala along Jinja Road in the industrial area caught fire on Sunday afternoon. The fire which started at around 4pm had already gutted one vehicle by the time Police Fire Brigade responded, and was spreading to the other vehicles in the showroom. Marie Stopes is still running an ad banned by the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) on grounds that it is promoting abortion. The firm has held ground that it did not receive formal communication of the ban, the reason they have not yet pulled down the ad from air. In case they are found in contravention of the law, they risk a five-year jail term or a Ksh100,000 fine. Safaricom and Telkom have signed a deal to enable their subscribers transfer funds from M-Pesa to T-kash and vice varsa seamlessly and at no extra. The move was announced in a statement sent to newsrooms during the weekend, and will see the prices drop to normal prices of sending money from Mpesa to Mpesa users.
