Orange has announced that it is rolling out USSD access of Facebook throughout Africa. Facebook via USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) will allow almost everyone win an Orange line to access Facebook regardless of the phone he/she is using. USSD works on even the very basic handsets without an internet connection or data access since it is text-based. We thought that computers were to replace paper and virtualize everything in the office. A new allow made from paper and polypropylene called Paper PP Alloy has been designed to replace plastics in consumer electronics. PEGA Design and Engineering looks to use the Paper PP Alloy to create the body of a paper computer. The circuits will still be silicon-based. Safaricom seems to be learning a lot. I have just realised that the 3G unlimited one week and one month data speeds have been upgraded to 1Mbps from the previous 512Kbps. I believe that Safaricom is really learning from our experiences. Orange still caps its unlimited data offerings at 256Kbps while Airtel Kenya does not cap its live but yet to be officially launched 3G unlimited data. I believe that I can work with 1Mbps now though it would be so hard to achieve such speeds in a shared network.

A Bangladesh based hacker group has claimed that it has hacked nearly 20,000 Indian websites including that of Border Security Force {BSF}. The group claim that Indian hackers hacked 400 Bangladesh sites and they have retaliated by hacking 20,000 Indian websites. Google launched its Public DNS as an experiment in late 2009. Now Google has announced that it’s public DNS serves up to 70 billion requests making it the largest in the world. Vodacom Tanzania Limited has reduces the M-Pesa transfer charges by 75 per cent as a strategy to attract more Tanzanians onto the platform. Clients will now be charged as low as Tsh 50 (Ksh 2.5) when making a transaction.
