Some AccessKenya shareholders have reportedly questioned the move to have former Deloitte Managing Partner, Daniel Ndonye  chair the publicly listed firm. According to reports appearing on Business Daily, AccessKenya shareholders said that having Mr Ndonye chair the company is “a breach of corporate governance rules guiding the selection of heads of boards for listed companies.” The shareholders said that Mr Ndonye’s appointment as chairman failed the five-year rule, which states that board chairmen should be independent directors who have not consulted for a company for a period of five years prior to taking the leadership. China’s telecoms vendors Huawei and ZTE have been banned from tendering for state business in Algeria for two years. The two companies were also fined approximately $38 000 each, after three of their officials were found guilty of various economic crimes including  “corruption, influence peddling and money laundering” between 2003 and 2006. Algerian media reports named Algere Telecom executive, Mohamed Boukhari, and businessman Chami Madjdoub as having been found guilty receiving illegal payments and money laundering to conceal the sources of those payments. South Africa cellular operator, Cell C, has come out strongly to clarify that its decision to retrench some of its 1,288 employees did not cause the death of an employee.  After announcing on May 30th that it would retrench 150 of it employees to streamline its business,  trade union body ,Solidarity, accused the operator of causing one of its members to commit suicide on after he had received a notice informing him that he could be retrenched. Alexander Kinyua , a Kenyan student in US University, Morgan State, confessed to killing and eating another man’s heart and brain. A search on social media reveals that Alexander Kinyua was a very troubled man. The 21-year-old Kinyua is reported to have admitted to US authorities that he killed 37-year-old Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie who was living with Kinyua’s family.
