The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) stepped in to support the identification of victims of the recent helicopter crash by conducting DNA testing through its advanced molecular biology and forensic laboratories. Detectives are investigating an incident where a man was found dead in a public toilet near the Kenya Medical Training College gate along Ngong Road, Nairobi. The toilet belongs to the Nairobi County Government. A cleaner told police he had gone to wash the toilet as it is a routine when he stumbled on the body of the man on Monday evening. Three people drowned in three separate incidents in the country, police said. The victims included a three-year-old girl who drowned in an underground water tank. The first incident happened in Itabua, Embu County on March 2 where a body was found floating on river Rupingazi. The deceased was identified as Martin Mwangi, 46. There was panic when a group of fishermen caught live 20 live bombs in a box in Lake Victoria. The bombs were found in two separate places, officials said. The first incident happened on Sunday March 1, 2026 in Mbita area as the group was busy fishing in Litare beach. The group thought they had caught a huge fish only to realise it was a box with live bombs and an ammunition in a box. Two suspected bandits were Sunday shot and killed in an ambush by police in Daaba area, Isiolo County. The deceased were said to be part of a gang that was headed for a robbery mission on livestock when they were ambushed and fatally shot.
