Aisha Jumwa, cabinet secretary for public service, was the victim of a robbery on Wednesday afternoon. Thugs are said to have broken into her Loresho home. The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition party has made changes to its senate leadership. The changes were made on Wednesday following a meeting with the party leader, Raila Odinga. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has moved to court seeking orders to access CCTV footage of former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i’s Karen home. Embattled High Court Judge Said Juma Chitembwe has filed a notice of appeal against the 12-member tribunal’s decision to have him removed from office for alleged gross misconduct. Eight individuals have been charged with stealing Sh449.6 million from NCBA bank through its overdraft service, Fuliza. Two others were released after the court determined that they were not involved in the theft. Two Bomet residents have sued area Woman Representative over suspected nepotism in her office. Collins Barno and Stanley Kiprotich Bii say in a lawsuit filed in Nairobi’s Employment and Labour Relations Court that the MP violated minimum standards of transparency, fair competition, merit, and integrity in hiring her office personnel. Nairobi doctors on Monday held peaceful demonstrations over their medical benefits, disrupting medical services in some public health institutions. The medics claimed that the county had not provided them with comprehensive medical coverage since July 2022. The protesting doctors were from Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, Mbagathi Hospital, and Pumwani Maternity Hospital. Privatizing state-owned businesses might generate Sh30 billion in annual revenue, the Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO) has said. According to PBO’s assessment, the government might reduce debt vulnerabilities by closing state-owned businesses that are losing money. PBO said in a report dubbed, “Fiscal Consolidation amid a Global Recession, what is the magic?” that 47.9 percent of revenue collected is used to service debts. “This leaves only 52.1 percent of the tax revenue to finance an ambitious government development programme in an economy experiencing a high budget deficit that requires further borrowing in a recessionary global environment,” the report shows.
