Over 100 staffers at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) are crying foul over the management’s decision to deny them their employment rights. According to an employee who spoke to Kahawa Tungu from the radio department, the staffers have worked for several years at the state broadcaster but are normally given a three-month renewable contract. According to the Employment Act, an employer shall within two months after the beginning of employment provide the worker with a written statement of the particulars of the main terms of the contract of employment. Early this week, Visa Inc. appointed former Managing Director for Technology at Oracle Ms Corine Mbiaketcha as General Manager for East Africa with effect from November 5, 2019. Florence Soila Ngossor, the ex-lover of retired President Daniel Arap Moi, has accused city lawyer Desterio Oyatsi of fraud that led to her losing a piece of land in Kajiado. The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has awarded a small-time construction company with Sh1 billion contract to maintain part of Nairobi-Thika Highway. The company, Debroso Construction Company Ltd was started in April 2013 and will be responsible for the Nairobi-Ruiru section of the highway. According to tender details, Debroso will have under surveillance, the section of the road for two years. They will also be required to do repairs. Embattled private investigator Jane Mugo has had a few run-ins with the law in the past couple of months. Mugo, was declared a dangerous criminal by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in September for alleged robbery with violence, impersonation and threatening to kill. National Oil Corporation of Kenya (NOCK) CEO MaryJane Mwangi has announced her exit from the helm of the State Corporation. In a statement on Wednesday evening, NOCK’s board stated that Ms Mwangi had confirmed that she will not be renewing her contract. “During a Board meeting held on 09. Teachers countrywide could be in for another scandal, after their employer,  Teachers Service Commission (TSC), announced a suspicious multi-billion medical cover. The commission is planning to dish out at least Ksh9 billion in the next three years to cater for medical covers for more than 318,000 teachers. According to reports by the Nation, TSC has opted for four options with bidders expected to choose the option that fits them and TSC making the final decision. Kenya’s national carrier Kenya Airways has been recording losses with the later being a pretax loss of Ksh.8.56 billion in its 2019 half year earnings to June 30. According to Business Daily, in a bid to boost its financial position, the carrier plans on selling six Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner planes, one Boeing B777-300 and a spare GE engine. Inspector-General of Police, Hillary Mutyambai was recently forced to transfer ever single one of the traffic police officers in Machakos County after some two demanded bribe from an Uber taxi he was covertly riding in from Nairobi. According to sources aware of the issue, IG Mutyambai was travelling to his rural home which is located along Machakos Kitui road. Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya is on the spotlight for allegedly using over Ksh200 million county funds to construct his residence on private land. According to an investigative piece done by a local publication, Opranya is claimed to have purchased the land in question, number Kakamega/Soy/1493, from Julius Kanja Mwangi.
