Activist Okiya Omtatah has moved to court to challenge the proposed Finance Bill 2023. The Busia senator on Friday argued that the Bill is a threat to human dignity and is unconstitutional. “Pending hearing and determination the court be pleased to issue orders suspending debate on sections 28,30 33,36 and 76 of the Finance Bill 2023,” he says in court papers. The Jubilee party faction led by former president Uhuru Kenyatta has suffered a blow after the Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu declined to ratify changes made during the May 22 National Delegates Conference (NDC). The former President’s camp made changes to the party’s top brass including kicking out members of a competing faction. The head of state in his Madaraka Day speech on Thursday, stated that the boda bodas will be financed through a process that protects the interests of the buyer.
