A tribunal has recommended the removal of High Court judge, Said Juma Chitembwe. President William Ruto received the tribunal’s findings on Tuesday. The tribunal had been commissioned by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta in April of last year to look into conduct. Employees and employers in the formal sector will be required to pay at least Sh2,000 in National Social Security Fund (NSSF) contributions starting next month. The funds are intended to cover private sector employees’ retirement benefits. Taxpayers foot the bill for the pension of their public sector counterparts. The employer will be required to match every shilling that a worker contributes toward their pension, increasing the cost of employment for companies. Korogocho Ward Representative Absalom Odhiambo has formally been charged with incitement to violence. According to the charge sheet, the MCA on January 25 uttered inciting words that implied causing anarchy in the country. Facebook parent firm, Meta has unsuccessfully sought to have a case filed by a former Facebook content moderator in Nairobi dismissed. Daniel Motaung, a South African national working in Nairobi, in October last year alleged exploitation and unfavorable working conditions. The petitioner was further forbidden by the court from prosecuting the case “in other forums.” Meta had requested that the lawsuit be dismissed because it cannot be heard in Kenya. Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Wafula Chebukati has threatened to take legal action against ODM leader Raila Odinga. Four State House vehicles were destroyed in a fire that broke out in a garage in Ruiru, Kiambu County. When the fire broke out on Sunday afternoon, the vehicles were parked at a mechanical workshop belonging to the ministry of transport near the General Service Unit’s Recce squad residence. To expedite the approval procedure for the sale of government assets, the Treasury has proposed measures that will bar Parliament from having a say in the sale of State-owned businesses. The Privatization Bill will give Treasury more authority over the sale of parastatals as the new administration attempts to sell a huge chunk of government-owned businesses. The results were released after presenting them to President William Ruto at State House. 881,416 students sat for the exams between December 2 and December 23, 2022. Education CS Ezekiel Machogu has released the Kenya Certificate for Secondary Education (KCSE) exam results for 2022. About 841,416 candidates sat for the exams between December 2 and December 23. Speaking at Mitihani House on Friday, Machogu said the government released the results early to allow the learners more time to transition to institutions of higher learning. “As I have already stated 841,416 candidates sat for 2022 KCSE examinations compared to 826,807 candidates in 2021,” said the minister.
