Mombasa county executive in charge of finance Maryam Mbaruk faces arrest over a contempt of court for disobeying/ignoring a court order. High court judge Erick Ogola issued a warrant of arrest for Maryam and county chief officer of finance Aisha Abdi last year in case they failed to pay Robinson Onyango Malombo Sh18.5 million for rendering legal services. Trouble is brewing at the oldest government publishing house Jomo Kenyatta Foundation over alleged harassment of employees, high-headedness and verbal venom by the Managing Director Rosemary Barasa. Sources say she insults and terrorizes employees openly and has managed to intimidate and box managers into mere spectators of the operations at the publishing house. A man is decrying the loss of Ksh20,000 to online fraudsters through HFC, after losing his ID and phone. According to his friend who reached out to Kahawa Tungu, the man lost his ID and mobile phone among other valuables on March 24, 2019. He proceeded to block the line a few hours later. Reports circulating in the media about Moi University medical student Ivy Wangechi’s murderer working as an M-Pesa agent are fabricated. Naftali Njahi Kinuthia killed Wangechi, 28, in outside the Moi Referral Hospital, an incident that took the country by storm. In January this year the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) instituted changes in its management amid corruption claims in awarding tenders for construction of roads. The Roads Civil Engineering and Construction Association petitioned the government to probe alleged bribery in awarding of tenders to local contractors. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have today afternoon recovered a Range Rover from Steve Mbogo’s home, which is thought to have been imported fraudulently to evade tax. Upon carrying out preliminary investigations, the vehicle number plates were found to belong to a probox. Lamu County government is on the spot for allegedly looting millions of shillings through fictitious projects. According to a recent report by the Auditor General Edward Ouko, the county cannot account for more than Sh149 million spent during the 2017/2018 financial year. Ouko reveals that the amount was spent irregularly through a fictitious project that was allocated Sh148,472,193 without proper and legal budgeting procedures.
