Kenya has recorded 559 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This was after a sample size of 3,074 was tested in the last 24 hours. The country’s caseload is now at 70, 804. Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has further revealed that 8 doctors are among the 274 who have been killed by COVID-19 this month. “This has been the darkest month since the pandemic struck in March. Olympic and world 3000 meters steeplechase champion, Conseslus Kipruto has been charged with defiling a 15-year-old minor. Presented before Principal Magistrate D. Ocharo in a Kapsabet court, the world champion denied the charges and was released on Sh200,000 bond. According to the charges, Kipruto defiled the minor from October 20 to October 21 with further charges of having indecent acts with a minor. Anti-narcotics Unit detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a foreigner, Mr Ordijhe Mike suspected to be transporting narcotics. According to the detectives, the suspect was concealing 3,050 grams of powdery substance said to be Heroine in his suitcase. Kenya has announced 1,080 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This was after a sample size of 8,322 was tested. The country’s caseload is now at 69,273. In a statement to the newsrooms, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe further indicated that of the positive cases, 1,066 were Kenyans and 14 foreigners. Consequently, 687 were male and 393 female while the youngest case was an 11-month old infant and the oldest is 100. On a sad note, 21 patients have succumbed bringing the fatalities rate to 1,249. A woman has been awarded Sh500,000 by a court after a health facility conducted a HIV test without her consent. According to a local publication, the woman who is a State Corporation employee visited a clinic where she verbally communicated to the medic and wanted a wellness checkup that was paid by her insurance provider. Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion has accused the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) of using attacks aimed to cripple the union. President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced that the State will take over the burial plans for fallen constitutional lawyer Nzamba Kitonga. Tuskys Magic staff in Nakuru have staged demos demanding their unpaid salaries after the branch manager Catherine Gitau issued them with letters of termination. Reports indicate that the employees received their letters of termination with no clear communication on how their unpaid salaries will be issued.
