Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) have rescued 16 foreigners after busting a human trafficking ring. The foreigners were being transported by 6 individuals along Marsabit- Isiolo highway on board three vehicles. The 6 suspects include Abdi Majid Hassan, Abdirahman Hussein Abdi, Mohammed Ahmed, Jamal Ali, Somo Wario, Salad Huka, Adullahi Mohammed and Abbas Yusuf. The Standard Gauge Railways (SGR) has recorded a loss of Sh21 billion in three years to may hence rising China’s debt. According to a report by the Transport Ministry to Parliament, the China-built railway netted Sh25.03 billion in revenue over the period against operational costs OF Sh46.71 billion. The loss has consequently forced the Kenya Railways Company (KRC) to default on an estimated Sh40 billion payout to China’s Africa Star Railway Operation Company, which runs both passenger and cargo services on the SGR. Protests have erupted in Kisii town today morning as pro-handshake and Deputy President William Ruto supporters clashed ahead of his visit. Reports indicate that the protests were staged by residents who support the handshake but were countered by those who support the DP. Kenya has confirmed 104 new COVID-19 cases within the last 24 hours, caseload now stands at 35,460 after 2,285 samples were tested. Of the new cases, all were Kenyans except three who were foreigners. The youngest to have contracted the virus was a one-year-old while the oldest aged 75 years. The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) has opposed the application by businessman Chris Obure to turn state witness in Kevin Omwenga’s murder. In new development, the DPP cites that Obure was seen near deceased, Kevin Omwenga’s house on the day of the murder. Thus there is sufficient evidence to charge him for the murder.
