Renowned New Zealand entrepreneur, Jake Millar who founded Sh1.2 billion startups was reported dead in Kenya on Monday,  aged 26 years. Detectives are probing an incident in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County when a court clerk attempted to take away his life. The circumstances surrounding his suicide attempt are yet to be determined as he was just found unconscious at Kianyaga Stadium with injuries to his neck. Confirming the incident, Gichugu Sub-county police commander Anthony Mbogo said the clerk has since been taken to Kirinyaga Level IV hospital and is receiving treatment. Concerns have been raised after a correspondent at Nation Media Group (NMG), Tesfa-Alem Tekle, went missing while on duty in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Reports indicate that the correspondent, Tesfa-Alem Tekle had been apprehended by Ethiopian authorities in Addis Ababa on October 31, 2021. He was charged with insulting the ruling party in Ethiopia and allegedly having links with extremist groups. He was however later released and went missing shortly after. President Uhuru Kenyatta has called on other nations not to close their borders over the emergence of the new Covid-19 variant, Omicron. Through his state of the Nation Address, Uhuru urged the neighboring nations to be lenient and not close borders over the new variant adding that the move will derail the economic recovery. A petitioner is seeking to have politician and businessman Jimmy Wanjigi arrested over the possession of illegal firearms and ammunition. In a new development, the activist identified as Memba Ocharo cites Wanjigi’s previous conduct with firearms arguing that he should not be allowed to have them in his possession. An autopsy conducted on the body of veteran journalist and blogger Gatonye Gathura has revealed that he was murdered by a laptop cable. According to the autopsy report by the Government pathologist Dr Titus Ngulungu, the veteran blogger died from trauma at the back of his head and strangulation using a laptop wire cable. “There was a struggle which saw the deceased hit with a blunt object at the back of the head as the killers used the wire to kill him,” he said. Police have arrested a 35-year-old man, Paul Murage Njuki for killing his wife and four children in Kirinyaga. According to police reports, the man surrendered to the police station on Monday and confessed to having committed the atrocities. He was then accompanied by police officers where he revealed where he had hidden the bodies as well as the murder weapons in question. Kenya has as of November 28, 2021, administered a total of 6,959,988 vaccines across the country. Of these, 4,295,764 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 2,664,224. The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 57.0%. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 9.8%. Officers from the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) on Sunday arrested an Iranian national suspected of planning terrorism activities within Nairobi.
