You do not need to travel upcountry to register as a voter in the upcoming 2022 elections, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has revealed. Speaking on Tuesday, IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati stated that Kenyans can register as voters or change their voter registration details at the nearest 52 Huduma Centres across the country. “Voter transfers, however, would have to be approved at the constituency level,” he said. Kenya has announced 159 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours after 4,046 samples were tested. The country’s caseload is now at 251,057. The positivity rate is now at 3.9% with the cumulative tests so far conducted now at  2,602,818. Of the new cases, 147 are Kenyans while 12 are foreigners, with 81 being females and 78 are males. The youngest is a four-month-old child while the oldest is 103 years. On a better note, 181 patients have recovered from the disease bringing the cumulative recoveries in the country to 243,772. Yesterday, Kenyan human rights activist Boniface Mwangi was roughed up by a GSU officer after a confrontation with officials said to be from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA). In a tweet thread, Mwangi said he was at the barbershop in Pension Towers located along Loita Street when several young men walked in with a General Service Unit (GSU) officer. Over 11,000 city hall employees have threatened to down their tools over failure by their employer to meet their grievances among them salary delays. The employees are calling on the Acting Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu and the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) boss Mohammed Badi to address their grievances. Fully vaccinated Kenyans can now travel to the United Kingdom (UK) starting Monday, October 11, 2020, without the mandatory quarantine requirement. Kenya’s Covid-19 positivity rate is now at 3.4% as 218 people have contracted the virus in the last 24 hours. The cumulative caseload is now at 250,728. Of the new cases, the youngest is a two-year-old while the oldest is aged 101 years.  Also, 208 are Kenyans while 10 are foreigners. 135 males while 83 are females. On a better note, 51 patients have recovered from the virus, 21 from the home-based care program and 30 from various hospital facilities across the country. Kenya has so far administered 3,990,500 vaccines across the country as of October 5, 2021. Of these, 967,553 have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 3.6% with the government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033. Kenya has announced 130 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours after 4,869 samples were tested bringing the country’s caseload to 250,510. The positivity rate is now at 2.7% with 127 are Kenyans while 3 being foreigners from the new cases. 74 are males while 56 are females, the youngest being a one-year-old child while the oldest is 99 years. Two Kawangware families are searching for their children, 2 years old who went missing 10 days ago from their homes. They are seeking government help to trace the two children who are suspected to have been abducted. For instance, they were last seen buying sweets from a local shop only to go missing since then.
