You do not need to travel upcountry to register as a voter in the upcoming 2022 elections, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has revealed. Speaking on Tuesday, IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati stated that Kenyans can register as voters or change their voter registration details at the nearest 52 Huduma Centres across the country. “Voter transfers, however, would have to be approved at the constituency level,” he said. Kenya has announced 159 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours after 4,046 samples were tested. The country’s caseload is now at 251,057. The positivity rate is now at 3.9% with the cumulative tests so far conducted now at 2,602,818. Of the new cases, 147 are Kenyans while 12 are foreigners, with 81 being females and 78 are males. Yesterday, Kenyan human rights activist Boniface Mwangi was roughed up by a GSU officer after a confrontation with officials said to be from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA). Over 11,000 city hall employees have threatened to down their tools over failure by their employer to meet their grievances among them salary delays. Kenya’s Covid-19 positivity rate is now at 3.4% as 218 people have contracted the virus in the last 24 hours. The cumulative caseload is now at 250,728. Of the new cases, the youngest is a two-year-old while the oldest is aged 101 years. Also, 208 are Kenyans while 10 are foreigners. 135 males while 83 are females.
