President Uhuru Kenyatta has ordered the Ministry of Energy to implement cost reduction changes at the Kenya Power and Lightening Company (KPLC). Through a statement, the Head of State directed the Energy CS Charles Keter to implement the changes recommended by the Presidential Task Force Review of Power purchase. Three children are dead after a fire razed down their house in Turi farmers, Elbourgon on Tuesday night. The three were aged 4, 5 and 6 years. Reports by a local publication reveal that the children were alone when the fire broke out. Their father, George Omoso, a single dad, is reported to have gone to buy food when the unfortunate incident happened. Kenya has announced 255 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours after 6,305 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The country’s caseload is now at 248,770. Three Principal Secretaries (PSs) are on the spot over the loss of Sh3.3 billion emergency and relief foods funds. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have rescued a 14-year-old girl who had been abducted from her parent’s home in Nyeri. The incident happened on August 25, 2021. The minor was rescued at Mto wa Mbu town in Tanzania with the main suspect identified as Jonathan Malele, aged 19 years who had previously worked at an establishment near the minor’s home as a nightguard. A new police station has been opened in Kianjokoma, Embu County. This comes weeks after the alleged murder of two brothers in the hands of police officers. 3.3% of Kenya’s adult population has been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, the Ministry of Health has announced. As of yesterday, September 24, 2021, 3,600,187 vaccines have been administered across the country. Out of the total, the first doses were 2,713,427 while the second doses were 886,760. A fire that razed a house in Taru, Kwale County has left four family members dead. The incident happened yesterday night. Kwale Police have revealed that a mother and her three children lost their lives in the inferno. They are Samia Kikoi, 32, Husnein Hussein, 10, Mulhat Hussein, 6, and Ilham Hussein, 1. Basilio Kimani Njuguna, a matatu driver who returned money left in his vehicle has been rewarded for his kind gesture. The incident dates back to September 5, 2021, where Kimani, a driver from Thika attached to Kandara Sacco Transporters picked an envelope and a laptop forgotten in his vehicle by a passenger. The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) has shut down 84 illegal pharmacies within the Nyanza region in its latest crackdown. The crackdown covered the counties of Kisumu, Nyamira, Kisii, Homabay, Migori and Siaya and targeted those pharmacy outlets that were found to have flouted regulations. Kenya will commence the vaccination of minors (those aged below 18 years) in January next year. According to the National Task Force on vaccine Deployment, this will constitute the third phase of mass vaccination in the country ahead of the 2022 General elections slated for August.
