Kenyans have expressed mixed reactions following the ban of the documentary film ‘I am Samuel’ by the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB). The documentary film that recently premiered at the BFI London Film Festival was directed by Pete Murimi and produced by Tony Kamau. Addressing the same, KFCB through its CEO Chris Wambua stated that the 68-minute film is not suitable for the Kenyan audience as it promotes same-sex marriage. Sudanese Minister of Cabinet Affairs Martin Elia Lomuro has been cleared of money laundering charges by a Nairobi court. Lomuro has been working with the Sudanese government under President Silver Kiir since 2005. He was appointed Minister of Cabinet Affairs in 2013. Earlier in June, Lomuro’s bank accounts containing Sh13.42 million were frozen following claims of money laundering. Kenya has announced 402 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours after a sample size of 6,715 was tested in the last 24 hours. The country’s caseload is now at 247,358. Kenyan journalists working with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) are set to get a 7% salary increment effective August 1, 2021. According to a local publication, the salary increment is following an agreement between the media house and the Kenya Union of Journalists (KUJ). Nakuru Doctor, James Muriithi Gakara accused of killing his two children with insulin has passed on at Nakuru Level 5 Hospital. Gakara was to have allegedly killed his two children, Dylan Gakara, and Karuana Gakara before attempting suicide in Nakuru on Sunday. Reports indicated that James Muriithi Gakara, an obstetrician at Optimum Current Hospital in Nakuru, injected the two minors aged three and fives years with human insulin before attempting to take his life. A senior police officer in Mombasa has been robbed of his gun by gangsters who were riding on a Tuk Tuk. The incident is under investigation. Police reports indicate that the officer was of Senior Superintendant rank. 3.2% of Kenya’s adult population has been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, the Ministry of Health has announced. As of September 19, 2021, 3,364,322 vaccines have been administered across the country. First dose were 2,504,869 while second doses were 859,453. Detectives yesterday gunned down two wanted gangsters in Nairobi’s Embakasi area, a firearm was recovered. Nairobi leads with Covid-19 infections as 515 people test positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. This was after 7,981 samples were tested bringing the cumulative caseload to 246,296. Police authorities are investigating an incident where a Chinese national was murdered and two others left badly injured in Athi River. Reports indicate that thugs broke into a home in Athi River in the wee hours of Friday, committed the crimes and escaped.
