A huge morning inferno razed down a dormitory in Gitweki Girls Secondary School, Murang’a County with property of unknown value destroyed. Reports indicate that the fire started in the wee hours of the night when students were sleeping. The cooks who were said to have first witnessed the flames alerted the school’s administration which made prompt efforts to put out the fire to no avail. The second Covid-19 vaccine uptake is now at 62.7% with 1,750,260 vaccines so far administered in the country. the Ministry of Health has announced. Of these, the total first doses are 1,075,808 while the second doses are 674,452. The majority of those who have taken the doses are males at 55% while females are at 45%. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated is at 2.5%. Residents around Lake Victoria are living in fear after fishermen recovered six mortar bombs while on a fishing expedition. Through a series of tweets, the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) revealed that the incident happened yesterday where the fishermen thought they had landed a big catch only to find a box full of explosives. Kenya’s Covid-19 Positivity rate is now at 17.5% after 1,335 patients have contracted the virus in the last 24 hours. The country’s caseload is now at 206,691 with the cumulative tests so far conducted now at 2,156,981. A Nairobi court has dismissed forgery charges against former Presidential aspirant Cyrus Jirongo relating to a property he purchased 30 years ago in Upperhill. In a ruling by Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, the charges were defective under Section 89 (5) hence terminated and Sh200,000 cash bail refunded. “In the circumstances, I find that the proper section to terminate the charges is section 89 (5) where the charges should have been found to be defective as they ought not to have been filed against him in the first place,” Andayi ruled.
