Former National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) chair and Naivasha MP John Mututho has temporarily saved his 8-bedroom Kawangware property from auction over debt. Mututho sought the help of the court to stop the auction where the 8-bedroom property had been put on sale by Garam Auctioneers. Senior Resident Magistrate Peter Muholi has suspended the auction until an application is heard and determined. Court documents submitted by Mututho disputed the loan arrears as he claims he borrowed Sh9 million but the bank wants to recover Sh20 million. Kenya has announced 834 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours after 8,498 samples were tested. The country’s caseload is now at 158,326. Of the new cases, 805 are Kenyans while 29 are foreigners. 499 are males and 335 are females. The youngest is a fourteen-day-old infant while the oldest is 100 years. 7 journalists are nursing serious injuries sustained from police beatings while they were covering the Tana and Athi River Development Authority (TARDA) demolitions in Mbeere, Embu County. The journalists were arrested alongside Mbeere South Member of Parliament Geoffrey King’ang’i but were released on Saturday night. Four families have been left in anguish after their kins dissapeared just after having a lunch meeting in Kitengela on April 19, 2021.
