Kakamega County has banned the transfer of bodies to morgues in other counties amid a surge of covid-19 cases in the country. Speaking yesterday, Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya reiterated President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directive that bodies should be buried within 72 hours of death. Oparanya further warned that private facilities that allow dead bodies to be moved to other counties longer than 72 hours will have their licenses revoked. “The 72-hour directive given by the President must be followed. Government Spokes Person, Cyrus Oguna has urged Kenyans to prepare for long, heavy rains commencing this week. In a press briefing, Oguna called on netizens to take advantage of the heavy rainfall and prepare for planting as 1.4 million people are facing hunger across the country. Kenya has announced 1,412 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This was after 9,219 samples were tested. the country’s caseload is now at 134,058. The new infections point at a 15.3% positivity rate with the rate of infection across the country continues to be a cause for alarm. On March 25, 2021, the Russian-manufactured Sputnik-V Covid-19 vaccine arrived in Kenya after it was approved by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board. It was registered for use in Russia in August 2020, becoming the first registered Covid-19 vaccine out of 165 being developed across the world. The energy Petroleum and Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has released a list of Petrol stations caught selling diluted petrol to clients following the hike in fuel prices. According to the authority, certain tests were conducted between January and March 2021 at approximately 1,182 petroleum sites. “From the tests, 98.99% of the sites were found to be compliant.
