The Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has warned that there are no more ICU beds available in hospitals as COVID-19 cases in the country continue to surge. Speaking on Tuesday, the union secretary-general Chibanzi Mwachonda further revealed that healthcare workers have not been spared as 10 are currently admitted in hospitals with covid-19. “The rising numbers of infections have not spared healthcare workers. 10 doctors are currently admitted, ” Mwachonda said. Two people have been left dead after the driver of their vehicle attempted to overtake an ambulance in Wote, Machakos County. According to witness reports, the driver of the vehicle was intoxicated with alcohol and was captured driving carelessly before the accident occurred. Four Kenyan police officers are set to stand trial in the murder of British aristocrat Alex Monson who died in their custody in 2012. In a ruling by High Court Judge Erick Ogolla, the officers should answer to what happened to Monson since he was in perfect health when arrested and in their custody. “The accused should tell the court what happened since the deceased was arrested in good health,” the judge ruled. The bodyguard attached to Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya is in trouble following a gun drama in a bar on Saturday night. The bodyguard has since been arrested together with a police officer whom they differed with at Finito Bar. Kenya has announced 1,130 cases in the last 24 hours after 5,119 samples were tested. The country’s caseload is now 122,040. A Nairobi court has acquitted gospel singer Bahati’s former manager, Peter Blessings in sh2 million fraud case on the ground that it is an abuse of the court process. Kenya has announced 1,354 more COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This was after 7,732 samples were tested. The country’s caseload is now at 118,889. Of the new cases, 1,301 are Kenyans while 53 are foreigners. 635 are female while 719 are female. The youngest is a seven-month-old baby while the oldest is aged 100. Siaya governor Cornel Rasanga has sent his security team and driver home and opted to drive himself to work after one tested positive for COVID-19. In a decision communicated on Friday, March 19, 2021, Rasanga stated that he would rather drive himself to work alone rather than risk contracting the virus. National Lands Commission (NLC) official Jennifer Itumbi Wambua was strangled to death, autopsy results have shown. The autopsy was conducted today at the Montezuma Monalisa Funeral Home on Mbagathi Way by government pathologist Johannsen Oduor. “The oesophagus had collapsed showing she was strangled by use of hands,” lawyer Daniel Maanzo said as briefed by the pathologist. The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) has ordered the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambail to expedite the probe into the murder of NLC official Jennifer Itumbi Wambua. Michael Njogo Gitonga, the man who bears a strict resemblance to President Uhuru Kenyatta has reportedly checked into rehab over alcohol addiction. According to a local publication, Gitonga checked in to Serenity Rehabilitation Center after persuasion from family and friends following his addiction to alcohol.
