Police authorities are investigating the death of 39-year-old Sarah Kimarong, a Bungoma county employee who was found dead in her rented house on Sunday evening. President Uhuru Kenyatta has postponed the Sagana meeting that was scheduled with the clergy and women leaders from Central Kenya. Sources intimate that the meeting has been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances. 112 people have tested positive for COVID-19 out of a sample size of 5,401 tested in the last 24 hours. The total confirmed positive cases in the country are now at 100,675. The cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,183,212. Of the new cases, 101 are Kenyans while 11 are foreigners. Kenyans will now access public libraries from Monday, February 1, 2020, after the long COVID-19 shutdown. In a tweet by the Kenya National Library Service (KNLS), all the 64 branches will be opened with all COVID-19 safety measures applicable. The operating hours will remain between 8.00 am to 6.30 pm from Monday to Friday and 8.30 am to 5.00 pm on Saturdays. A fire has razed down Shivling Supermarket on Kisumu’s Oginga Odinga street in the morning hours of Saturday, January 30, 2021. Reports indicate that the fire started at the bakery section although its cause is yet to be established. Kenya has announced 141 new COVID-19 cases from 5,644 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The country’s caseload is now at 100,563. Kenya has so far conducted 1,177,811 coronavirus tests. From the new cases, 124 are Kenyans while 71 are females; the youngest is a 2-month-old baby while the oldest 100. On a better note, no deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours. Popular Swahili Presenter Jane Ngoiri has called it quits at Nation Media Group’s (NMG) NTV station. According to a local publication, the celebrated presenter resigned earlier in the week citing personal reasons. “It is true that I have resigned from NTV. A Nairobi court has terminated the case against high school teacher Esther Muli Ntheya who was caught up in former Machakos Senator Boniface Kabaka’s death. Ntheya was arrested in connection with former Machakos Senator Kabaka’s death after he collapsed in a Kilimani hotel but was later released. The latest police reshuffle has seen to it that over 120 traffic officers were moved in new efforts to streamline operations in the country. According to an internal memo sent to the officers on January 27, 2020,  the changes were necessitated by many issues among them disciplinary matters.
