Kenya has announced 223 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This was after a sample size of 7,748 tested. The country’s caseload is now at 99,082. The cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,121,946. Of the new cases, 195 are Kenyans while 28 are foreigners. 129 patients have recovered from the disease. 115 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care, while 14 are from our various facilities. Kisumu County Finance Chief Officer Akaka Ramoya is dead, Governor Anyang Nyong’o has confirmed. Ramoya passed on at Avenue Hospital in Kisumu after a short illness. In commemorating Ramoya’s life, Kisumu Governor described him as an intelligent, knowledgeable worker. “It’s with deep pain and sorrow that I announce the death of my Chief Officer for Finance, Mr Akaka Ramoya who passed on this morning at a Kisumu Hospital. We have lost a sterling and knowledgeable worker. Former Nairobi governor is trending for the better part of today following a tweet that has since been deleted. In a screenshot making rounds on social media, Sonko is said to have referred to President Uhuru Kenyatta as a ‘mlevi’ (Meaning drunkard) who needed to be impeached. West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo’s three-week absence from the County has raised concerns about his whereabouts. In a presser on Friday, Senate Majority Leader Samuel Poghisio called on the family to give a status of his whereabouts adding that being the County Chief, his constituents should be aware of why he is absent from duties. Kenya has recorded 166 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This was after a sample size of 7,077 was tested. The country’s caseload is now at 98,859. The cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,114,198. Of the new cases, 146 are Kenyans while 20 are foreigners. The Kenyan passport has dropped from the top 10 most powerful in Africa. It has currently been ranked as position 11 in the latest Henley Passport Index Report. In the previous year’s ranking, Kenya was ranked as position 8 hence was among the top 10 most powerful passports in Africa. Globally, it has been ranked position 73 from position 72 last year. The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) secretariat has given the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) 16 days to complete the verification of signatures. The Ministry of Health has issued a list of laboratories in Kenya that are allowed to issue COVID-19 certificates for individuals seeking to travel outside the country. Through a statement, the Ministry cited that only 44 laboratories are licensed to issue the certificates. “A person intending to travel outside Kenya is expected to take Covid-19 test from the approved labs.
