Kenya has announced 69 new  COVID-19 cases from a sample size of 1,987 in the last 24 hours. The country’s caseload is now at 95,992. On a sad note, 6 more patients have succumbed to the virus raising the cumulative fatalities in Kenya to 1,664. Kenya has announced 80 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This was from a sample size of 1,601. The country’s caseload is now at 95,923. On a sad note, 3 more patients have succumbed to the virus. The country’s death toll is now at 1,658. From the  new cases, 63 are Kenyans while 17 are foreigners. Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has snubbed the invite by the Independent Policing and Oversight Authority (IPOA) following claims of harassment by police. The former county boss had been invited to appear before IPOA on December 21. He is however yet to show up. “He never appeared. Former Chief Justice Evans Gicheru will be buried on Thursday, December 31,2020 the family has said. Earlier, Chief Justice David Maraga and Attorney General Paul Kihara visited the family and passed their condolences. Maraga revealed that the government together with Gicheru’s family are talking and will reach an agreement to accord the deceased a descent burial. Kenya has recorded 130 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This was from a sample of 1,973. The country’s caseload is now at 95,843. From the new cases, 113 are Kenyans while 17 are foreigners. In terms of gender, 81 are males and 49 are females. The youngest is a four-year-old child while the oldest is 83 years old. Former Chief Justice Evans Gicheru has passed on. Gicheru served as the 12th Chief Justice of the country after being appointed by former President Mwai Kibaki. He retired in 2011. His death was confirmed by Chief Justice David Maraga who issued a statement on behalf of the judiciary. “I am deeply saddened to announce the demise of retired Chief Justice Evans Gicheru which occurred this morning. The Ministry of Health has announced 427 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 7, 593 tested in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of infections to 95,195. From the cases, 406 are Kenyans while 21 are foreigners; 256 are males and 171 females, while the youngest is a five-year-old child and the oldest is 87. Winnie Achieng’, a woman whose car plunged into the ocean earlier today has died in hospital aged 33. The vehicle, a Toyota Vits of registration KCY 556B had two occupants, Achieng’ and her son. The car was coming from Changamwe side towards Mombasa Island when the incident happened. Rescuers helped retrieve the car although the woman was reported to have consumed a lot of water. 154 more people have tested positive for Covid-19, from 3,262 samples tested in the last 24 hours, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced on Tuesday. The number of cases confirmed in the country now stands at 94,768. “It, therefore, means that Kenya has now surpassed over the 1 million mark in terms of testing. Nigerian man, Edwin Chukwudiebere Okoye who was accused of obtaining money from a woman under false pretense has been released. Okoye has been released on Sh3 million bond or Sh2 million cash bail and has been ordered to present his passport in court. According to a local publication, the fraud reportedly took place between May 2017 and 2018 in a Kilimani club, Nairobi.
