Kenya has announced 394 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This was after a sample size of 5,752 was tested. The country’s caseload is now at 92,853. From the new cases reported, 367 are Kenyans while 27 are foreigners. Ideally, 271 are males while 123 are females and the youngest is a two-year-old child while the oldest is aged 93. On a better note, 424 patients have recovered from the virus bringing the tally for recoveries to 74,403. Sadly, 10 more patients have succumbed to the virus. The death toll is now at 1,614. Lugari MP Ayub Savula is being probed by police authorities for allegedly harassing passengers aboard a Jambojet from Kisumu to Nairobi. Reports indicate that Savula was held by the authorities after a complaint was lodged by a passenger who was on the same flight with him. Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) stakeholders have opted to seek the aid of President Uhuru Kenyatta in oustering Secretary General Wilson Sossion. According to a local publication, 90 out of 100 secretaries seek to bar Sossion from running again for elections scheduled from January till March 2021. The charges against Nigerian artistes Stanley Omah Didia alias Omah Lay, Muyiwa Awoniyi and Temilade Openyi alias Tems who were arrested and detained in Uganda have been withdrawn. The artists were arrested on Monday for organizing an unlawful concert and were charged with negligently doing acts likely to spread infectious diseases in Uganda. Social media is up in frenzy following the arrest and detaining of two Nigerian artistes in Uganda for reportedly organizing an unlawful concert. Kenya has secured Sh14 billion loan from the French government for the construction of a modern rail line that will link the Central Business District (CBD) to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). A Kenyan passport was ranked the 8th most powerful in Africa and 72nd globally by a report that was carried out earlier in the year. Out of 107 countries in the world, the 2020 ranking by Henley Passport Index Ranking released in January indicated that the Kenyan passport had strengthened its global ranking and moved two positions from last year’s 74th. The Church and Clergy Association of Kenya (CCAK) has expressed displeasure in the BBI vowing to mobilize Kenyans to vote No in the coming referendum.
