The hearing challenging Awiti’s re-election was adjourned for close to thirty minutes by Judge Joseph Karanja.
”I’m likely to move this court if you cannot control your supporters. We are all straining to hear what is being said because of unnecessary noise,” the judge warned.
Youths fought outside the premises, accusing the other of blocking their way into the courtroom.
“You can’t block us from getting into the court because this is a public institution. We’ll enter by force,” one of the youths shouted.
The rowdy youths finally overpowered the officers on guard and made their way into the courtroom where the exchange continued.
They are said to have shouted down lawyers from both sides when making submissions. Lawyer Charles Kanjama representing the petitioner was first up and then Awiti’s lead counsel, Tom Ojienda.
