AWWDA advertises CEO position; here’s how to apply

The Athi Water Works Development Agency (AWWDA) has advertised the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), with applications set to close on September 3, 2026.
The agency announced the vacancy in a notice issued on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, seeking a new chief executive to provide strategic leadership and oversee its operations.
The successful candidate will succeed Joseph Mungai Kamau, who was appointed CEO in May 2024 after serving in an acting capacity since September 2023.
“The Board of Directors (BOD) is seeking to recruit a dynamic, exceptional and visionary leader with good professional and ethical standing to fill the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO),” AWWDA said in the notice.
The agency said the full job description, person specifications and other requirements are available on its official website, www.awwda.go.ke.
Eligible candidates are required to submit a signed cover letter, detailed curriculum vitae, copies of academic and professional certificates, a copy of their National Identification Card and the names and contacts of three professional referees.
Applicants must quote reference number AWWDA/CEO/2026-27-01 in their applications.
Candidates can submit their applications either electronically or in hard copy. Soft-copy applications should be sent as a single PDF attachment to .
Hard-copy applications should be submitted in a sealed envelope clearly marked with the reference number and addressed to the Board Chairperson, Athi Water Works Development Agency, Athi Water Plaza, Muthaiga North Road, P.O. Box 45283-00100, Nairobi.
The deadline for submitting applications is 4:00 p.m. on September 3, 2026.
AWWDA warned that applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
The agency is responsible for the development, rehabilitation and management of water and sewerage infrastructure within its area of jurisdiction, making the CEO position a key leadership role in Kenya’s water sector.
