Embakasi East MP Babu Owino Thursday claimed that top officials within the Kenya Kwanza government are orchestrating a well-coordinated and deliberate witch hunt against him.

The leaders who he didn’t name are allegedly mobilizing state agencies to manufacture corruption allegations with the sole objective of damaging his political standing.

He alleged at a media briefing that some officials from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have been enlisted in the plot and are planning to raid his office at Greenspan Shopping Mall in Donholm, Nairobi.

He added government operatives have persistently attempted to pressure him into aligning with President William Ruto’s regime through both direct and indirect engagement, including offers of political accommodation but he has rejected their approaches.

He, instead chose to remain committed to holding the government accountable on issues affecting Kenyans, such as the high cost of living, taxation policies, unemployment and the state of the healthcare sector.

“We know their plans and urge them to focus on issues affecting Kenyans,” he said.
Owino insisted that all projects under his leadership have been executed transparently and in strict adherence to procurement regulations, maintaining that no company linked to him has been awarded tenders in the constituency and that all contracts are allocated through proper channels.

He has challenged authorities to inspect every project, stating that his office remains open to scrutiny but warned against politically motivated investigations.

He has also urged EACC officials to uphold its institutional independence and refrain from being drawn into partisan machinations, cautioning that any deviation from its legal mandate would compromise its credibility and expose it to existing perceptions of external influence in politically motivated prosecutions and selective enforcement of anti-corruption measures.

There was no immediate comment from EACC over the claims.
